My Story
My name is Josephine McDonald and I currently operate my own home-based daycare and have been for the last 8 years. I am originally from a small community (800 people) in Newfoundland and have been living in Lower Sackville for the past 16 years. I have a wonderful 11 year-old daughter, husband and a furry friend (our dog Yogi).; I had left my job at Dalhousie University in 2008 to stay home with my child and before joining Scentsy, my whole life revolved around Sophie and taking care of the daycare kids. I love my child dearly but she was sucking everything out of me and I lost my spark, my energy, and my love for socializing. I have to be totally honest and say I wasn;t interested in Scentsy.; I bought from a friend;s party to support her and fell in love with the product. After a few months, I began to think about the business side of Scentsy and began to ask questions. Boy am I glad that I did not pass on this opportunity. I had to get a monthly auto shipment of approximately $100 in order to get paid any commission (but no commission on what I bought) from another other direct sales company I was previously with. This is not a requirement with Scentsy but if I choose to buy $100, I get paid commission on my own purchases!!! How awesome is this!!!
I joined Scentsy in May of 2013 to make some extra income. I was in for a pleasant surprise; I found more than just a little income, I found me again. I had forgotten how much I love socializing and how much renewed energy that it gave me. I still spend a lot of time with my child but the home parties and events that I now participate in gets me out and I love it!!; I can work my business as little or as much as I want, choose the hours I work, when and where I work without the pressure!! I work my business a little each day by emailing, updating my facebook page (Josie, Independent Scentsy Consultant), calling people, handing out business cards/samples or signing up for events when kids are napping, when I take them to the playgroups/playgrounds, when I;m camping, or when I;m going for coffee) It is so easy to work my business.. Scentsy is not something I do but rather a part of my life. I thought I was investing only $119 to start my own business but found out I was also investing in myself!
